Dolphin Tale

I really like movies based on true stories that encourage people to never give up. Dolphin Tale is the kind of movie that inspires you to see disabilities as a not so bad thing, if you let them bring out the best in a person - or a dolphin!

It's the young people in the movie who help the adults not to give up hope. Winter, the disabled dolphin, however - really steals the movie with her intelligence and cuteness. Here is a link to the real Winter - who lost her dolphin family at 3 months of age. The Clearwater Aquarium is using Winter's story to help kids find forever families! http://seewinter.com

Trinity Goodheart

Here's another movie with a message. Trinity is the main character -she's a 12 year old girl who never got to know her mom. Trinity gets half of a  pendant from an angel and is given the mission to find the other half. Her journey will help her learn what can split a family and how to bring it together. I liked the main character Trinity, because she had a good heart :-) haha!!! It was a great movie but slow.

Soul Surfer

I love that it's based on a true story because then you get a sense of what happened in reality. AnnaSophia Robb is the main character in the movie; she plays Bethany Hamillton, a young champion surfer. Bethany loses her arm in a shark attack. Her faith and family give her the courage to try to surf again. However, she loses her first competition and wants to give up. She learns that champions aren't just those who win medals. She goes back to surf for a new reason. Here's the actual Bethany Hamilton.

Bridge to Terabithia

Imagination and friendship is what this movie is mainly about. The main character, Jesse struggles with bullies; and a new girl to the school also goes through the same things. What they have in common is the ability to create and dream. A friendship grows and they learn that dreaming can help you see life in a new way. A little extra,  Jesse is acted by Josh Hutcherson of The Hunger Games movie; and AnnaSophia Robb is Jesse's friend. This is a great movie for preteens who find it hard to fit in. Here's a sneak peek of the movie-

Addams Family Values

So is dark supposed to be funny? Well it's not. I know, I know the TV series was better- so I hear the older generation tell me. In a word this movie is disturbing but I'm going to give it 1 candy for Anjelica Huston's acting, and Raul Julia was good, too, maybe it was just a badly written story. TOO DARK.

Christmas with the Kranks

The actors, Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis, are a good couple for the movie. Although this is a Christmas movie, you can really see it anytime of the year when you need to bust a gut. At first I thought this would be a lame, boring movie but once I saw it, it was so funny I was about to cry. The Kranks decide to skip Christmas because their daughter is not able to be with them this year. Not everyone in the neighborhood is a fan of their idea of skipping Christmas. At the last minute, the Kranks run like crazy to prepare for Christmas- you need to see the movie to find out why. Here is one of the scenes that will give you a big ROTFL.

The Incredibles

This movie definitely has no broccoli. Yeah, it's almost as old as me but it's a classic like I plan to be. Our family can really relate to this movie -from the mom's widening hips, to the dad's affection for his wife, to a preteen's awkward moments. This is a movie that everyone should have on their PC, iPod, iPhone, even on DVD. Superheroes have you laughing about ordinary life. Here's one of my favorite scenes -
